Gunuma Lodge is an incorporated association under the NSW Associations Incorporation Act 2009.  As such members have certain rights and responsibilities under the model constitution of the NSW Associations Incorporation Regulations 2010, including the “Gunuma Specific Rules”.  The Gunuma Lodge committee is the governing body of the association.

Members enjoy exclusive access to the Lodge and its facilities for themselves, their families, and guests.  In the interests of an enjoyable holiday it is important that the building, its contents and fellow guests are treated with respect and consideration.  The following guidelines apply.

Fire and Emergency

The fire evacuation meeting place is in the front car-park directly opposite the main entrance to the Lodge.  In the event of an emergency evacuation all occupants meet here so that anyone missing can be readily identified and safely retrieved.

Perisher, Smiggin Holes and Charlotte’s Pass have lost ski lodges to fires. Please do not do anything to add ours to the list.

Arrival and departure


Bookings take effect from 4.00pm on the day of the booking.

Members or Guests have no entitlement to occupy a room before that time unless it is already vacated. If your arrive early you may store your gear in the temporary store prior to 4.00pm on the day the booking commences.

Checking in

When you have moved into your room please:

  1. enter your name and check-in/out details on the whiteboard in the dining room and
  2. sign the Accommodation Register.

It is a condition of our lease with the NPWS that an Accommodation Register is maintained. This is located in the dining area. Please ensure the names of each occupant, including children, are included.

Gunuma Winter Car Parking

There are 6 car parking spots available at Gunuma including one disabled park. Car parks must be booked online prior to arrival (the same as your room).

Upon arrival you need to obtain a car park permit from the House Captain/Winter House Manager (WHM) and display it on the front dashboard.

It is a condition of use of these car parks that you park rear to the kerb and chains are fitted to two wheel drive vehicles at all times.

You may unload your car via the dining area door at the rear of the Lodge bearing in mind that temporary parking on Snow Gum Place (formerly Willow Road) may attract a hefty fine.  So as not to interfere with other guests you are asked to remove items from the dining area as soon as unloading is complete.

It is important that upon departure you return the Pass to the Lodge for further use.

Illegal parking attracts a hefty fine.


Members or Guests must ensure they have cleaned and vacated their room by 4.00pm. Remove your name from the whiteboard in the dining room to indicate that the room is free and return your car parking permit if you booked a car park.



Each room is allocated a chore to be done during your stay. A full list is located on the notice board in the dining room and your chore is located on the back of your bedroom door. That chore is your responsibility, irrespective of the way in which you found it. Any complaints regarding this should be directed to the House Captain/WHM. On departure remember to clean and tidy your room thoroughly.


As soon as you have enjoyed your meal, please wash, dry and put away dishes, pots and pans. Clean your cook top and bench ready for other guests to use.


During winter all garbage and recycling material is collected by NPWS from thetemporary storage bin. Outside of the winter season garbage should be taken to Perisher Waste Station and not left in the lodge when you leave. Please recycle where possible.

Paper and cardboard

A small amount of paper and cardboard is required for the fire. Excess paper and cardboard boxes should be put in the correct garbage bag.

Your Room


There should be 8 blankets and 4 pillows in each room. Guests are to provide their own bed linen. If you require more blankets or pillows ask the House Captain/WHM, it may be possible to arrange.

Electric Blankets are PROHIBITED in the Lodge.


The heaters in the bedrooms are thermostatically controlled. Turn the heater to the low setting and adjust the thermostat on the wall as required. Do not place clothes over the heater to dry as it may cause a fire. Before departure, to prevent pipes freezing, set the thermostat to 10 Celsius.

Room Allocation

Rooms are allocated when booking on the online booking system and the room allocations provided to the Winter House Manager/House Captain prior to your arrival. Please do not move into other vacant rooms as it causes confusion and inconveniences the incoming guests who have been assigned that room. If there is an issue with your room please discuss it with the House Captain/WHM.

Code of Conduct

Member responsibilities

Members are responsible for their actions and that of their Co-member, families and guests while staying at the Lodge, whether or not the Member is staying at the Lodge at the same time.  The Member in effect is vouching for the proper conduct of his/her guests.  Where a breach of these responsibilities is proven the committee has the power to take appropriate remedial action against the member.

Give a Helping Hand

Everyone staying at the Lodge is on holidays and we all prefer to keep our chores to a minimum. However, if you notice that something requires attention such as emptying the garbage or filling the wood box, please spare a moment to help out.


Living in a communal environment requires courtesy and consideration on everyone’s part. Please remember that slamming doors, loud voices, heavy footsteps, crying children, loud music etc all contribute to strained relationships.  Noise must be kept to a minimum before 8.00 am and after 10.00 pm


Your children are your responsibility at all times. Please respect other guests’ enjoyment of the Lodge. If children want to play noisy and vigorous games, usher them to the downstairs Play Room. To avoid accidents please do not allow children to play on or around the stairs and keep younger children, especially toddlers, out of the kitchen, particularly during meal times.


Members and guests should take their own precautions to secure personal property and valuables, eg utilising the safes in each room, when they are unoccupied. No responsibility will be accepted by the committee for loss or damage to personal property brought into the Lodge.


A complete ban on smoking exists in ALL areas of the Lodge including the airlock near the fireplace, the front entry and external fire escape areas. If you need to smoke please go well outside the building and remember to ‘bin your butt’
